How to Make Diamonds (Traditional Food)

So, on this sunny Monday, I will be sharing traditional food recipes that are quite legendary and popular in Indonesia. Have you ever heard of diamonds? This dish comes from Central Java. The name Hira is very familiar in Central Java, but it is different in other regions, in other regions it is called sweet rice. There are many types of diamonds spread throughout Indonesia. All that needs to be bought and prepared to make this wajik specialty is glutinous rice that has been soaked overnight, brown sugar, salt, granulated sugar, coconut milk, mineral water and finally pandan leaves. There are not many ingredients that you need to prepare, after you have prepared all the ingredients, now let's start the first step of making the traditional diamond dish.

In this first step all you need to do is cook the glutinous rice you prepared earlier, you can adjust the glutinous rice according to your preference. Cook the glutinous rice until the water in the pot reduces and you need to stir the glutinous rice until it is cooked on medium heat.

In the second step, after cooking the glutinous rice until the water in the pot reduces, now prepare the steamer and put all the cooked glutinous rice in the steamer, then steam the glutinous rice for about 25 minutes on medium flame. Make sure you check the glutinous rice periodically and stir it so that it cooks thoroughly.

In the fourth step, after cutting the brown sugar into small pieces, now prepare a pot and pour 400 ml of coconut milk into the pan, then add the prepared pieces of brown sugar, then add 1 tablespoon of brown sugar and half a tablespoon. After salt in the pan, cook and stir until the coconut milk is well mixed and the color of the coconut milk turns brown.

Sixth step, after filtering the coconut milk until there is brown sugar which is still solid, now pour it back into the pan and cook the coconut milk again. Add 1 pandan leaf to the coconut milk to make the coconut milk more fragrant.

Seventh step, after the coconut milk is cooked until the pandan smells and boils, now pour all the glutinous rice that was steamed earlier. Then keep stirring the glutinous rice until it is well mixed and the coconut milk reduces, remember to use medium heat to cook the glutinous rice.

Eighth step, after you have cooked the glutinous rice until it is well mixed and the coconut milk has reduced, now prepare a medium sized baking dish, then place a banana leaf in the pan as a base to make it easier later. To remove sticky rice when placed in a pan.

In the last step, pour all the glutinous rice and compact it using a spatula so that it is easy to chop. Next, cut the diamond using a very sharp knife or you can cover the knife with plastic to prevent it from sticking.
