The three basic pillars of a believer's life are faith, hope, and love. Those that are faithful, upbeat, and loving do not fail or give up. The grief of failure leads to despair. People are often content with what they receive and unhappy with what they do not. People evaluate success and failure based on immediate rewards and losses and respond appropriately.  In the Holy Qur'an, Allah Ta'ala declares, "When I shower benefits on man, he turns away and dies." And if something bad happens to him, he becomes hopeless. (Verse 83 of Sura 17 Isra).  For a believer, this life is nothing more than the finish line of a long journey and the harvest field of the hereafter.

Happiness and sadness are part of life, nothing in this world is permanent. The great saying of the Qur'an, 'With hardship there is relief, surely with hardship there is relief.' (Sura 94 Inshirah, verses: 5-6). Commenting on this surah, the mufassirs wrote, it appears that two or more happiness exists on either side of one suffering and that between two or more happiness there can be only one suffering.
