Chelsea has tried everything to survive in the Champions League. But in the end they could not win against Real Madrid. Rodrigo's brace in the second half of the game saw Carlo Ancelotti's side win again and reach the semi-finals.

Real won 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night. With a 4-0 lead over the two legs, another step has been taken in the campaign to retain the Champions League title. Chelsea have lost four games in a row since Graham Potter was sent off. This is their first experience in three decades; Before that, the last four consecutive games lost in 1993! For a team trailing 2-0 at home, there is only one option open to them - attack. Real's speedy wingers accepted the threat and Chelsea adopted it.
They could have gone ahead with the first good chance in the 11th minute of the game. An unguarded Ngolo Kante got the ball near the penalty spot. The French midfielder could not keep the shot on target even from so close. Real was advancing in the 20th minute on the counter attack. Rodrigo received the ball in the D-box from Dani Carvajal. The unguarded Brazilian forward's bullet-speed shot deflected off the outside of the post.
Chelsea's attacks one after the other continued to be handled with a cool head by their Militao, Carvajal. They were terrorizing the hosts' defense whenever they got a chance to counter-attack. Luka Modric tested Kepa Arrizabalaga with a superb shot from Carvajal in the 32nd minute. But he could not beat the Spanish goalkeeper. Real got another good chance after 10 minutes. Vinicius Jr ran onto Modric's excellent cross and got within reach, but the Brazilian forward couldn't get the shot right.
In the next minute, Fede Valverde raced into the opposition box after receiving a ball from Thibaut Courtois near their own d-box. Karim Benzema could not keep the shot on target after receiving the Uruguayan midfielder's cross at the far post. Courtois saved Real in the 45th minute. Marc Cocoreia's bullet speed shot from inside the small D-box at the far post was blocked by the Belgian goalkeeper. Chelsea went into the break in deep frustration at not being able to capitalize on two great chances.
